Ridiculous!

Every year, my high school buddy, Dennis, hosts a Christmas party for our class. Being the jerk that I was back in the day, I never went those parties before. That is, not till recently in the past three years.

I’m down with a cough and cold and I’m tired of resting for the past few days. I wanted to have fun. Tonight I’m ditching my kids and I’m going to that party. Driver or no driver….It was ‘no driver’ but nevertheless, I got there early as usual. But never early enough for chaos that happened that night.

Few of our classmates came with their spouses. It was a real pleasure to have a face attached to names. As unescorted as I was that night (my usual escort is Derek), I had no problems I wanted to stay longer and I wanted to have fun. And hilarity was brimming up to the rafters.

The ridiculously funny white elephant games were just warm-ups. This is where we all got physical. I remember being squished for some pair of slippers (or something) that I wasn’t even aiming for LOL. No matter how cheesy or cheap the presents were, it was loads of fun fighting over them. The grabbing certainly added value to the gifts. And we weren’t even drunk yet.

Our loud voices and cachinations trembled Kawilihan Village as we played Pinoy Genyo. We had so much fun here, I’m at a loss for words.

Not a single one of us left that party empty-handed. Everybody had pirate booty topped with Teresita’s re-production of our HS graduation video, from Betamax format to DVD. Each one of us got a copy. We were all floored and anxious as fear of having that video posted online looms. LOL

By 11:30, my mommy radar was on full alert and I had to make the first exit at midnight. True enough, Derek was still awake waiting for me in the living room getting ready to sleep on the couch. Something seemed to be bothering him but he went to sleep quickly.

In spite of being early, I couldn’t sleep. I had fun but I wasn’t wired. I kept moving around in bed and figured that someone must be thinking about me. I turn on my notebook to go online to help me fall asleep. Logging on to Facebook, I see my friends chatting away about Teresita’s video for us. They were watching as they were chatting and I joined along the chat (I don’t like TV in my room and my notebook didn’t have a drive).
