Wow! Someone actually asked me about this…. My own friends are afraid to ask and I do not push it with them because I respect their level of understanding the “sphere” (M’s words :-) ) that I am in. But since alamarinara@yahoo.com asked me for my take on the cosmic cause of ASD, I didn’t hesitate. I’m posting my response here now. I may not get the chance to bring this up again… This is my online diary after all.
Sent to alamarinara@yahoo.com….
Hi! A lot of people are afraid to ask this question because it leads to more questions. I quite understand how most people would react as they can only understand based on what is consistently observed. As most people believe there is a scientific explanation for everything. In my practice, there is a cosmic cause that manifests itself physicallyor thru science.
Going back to the questions, children with ASD and ADD/ADHD are growing in numbers as you have notice. People find blame in toxicities, genes, and what have you but still cannot agree as to what is causing all this.
The cosmic cause is that the world has called these children to come forth and bring everyone back to spirituality and unconditional love. In everything that happens in the world, the Universe is teaching us that. Whether it’s global warming, the Iraqi war, the economic meltdown, the crime rate. Everything. And a lot of us, have not learned that lesson.
Sounds boring, doesn’t it. For some, yes it is. Some people will say “That’s all?” when it really isn’t that simple. Spirituality and Love has taken on different meanings as this world progresses. Overprotection has been equated as love. Corporal punishment has been justified by love. Gifts are expressions of love. Praying the rosary hundreds of times has been equated to spirituality when the one who prays continues to criticize everyone around them. So on and so forth.
Who am I and why do I say this? Perhaps my other site http://soulinspirations.wordpress.com can give you a better idea of who I am. I’m not loopy
I used to a hotshot executive for a multinational bank bank in Singapore and then I made a choice to take care of my boys.
I have two boys in the spectrum and they are the best kids the world! I simply cannot complain. A lot of people are surprised when I say that “autism is the best thing that has happened in my life.” I do say that with all sincerity. They do not give me mind games. They give it to me as it is. They always put me in a state of constant creativity. I accept both their stims and monologues as well as their wonderful way of “seeing the big picture.” This is how I speak to them and get them to understand what needs to be done. I give them the big picture. I explain things to them as to how it means to them. This is easier than breaking it down into small skills leading to a bigger skill. I stay relaxed around them because the have a great deal of sensitivity to other people’s energies. When I am stressed, one of them is definitely going to be sick. When I am nervous about them, the stims are more prominent. When I feel someone else is nervous about them, the stims and climbing are outrageous.
But I love it when that happens because it gives others the opportunity to learn to accept them. Their bodies need the stims and for them to cage it all in will just cause problems in their system, as well as their sense of identity, When these stims happen, I don’t tell them to stop. I just make them aware that they are stimming and that people are concerned about it and for certain they will slow down.
The world needs to remember that these children are gentle souls with gentle minds in gentle bodies, yet with the same needs for dignity and living their lives as freely without fear nor limitations.
I’ll stop right here…My son needs my attention.
Thanks for asking. If you have any more questions, feel free….
Namaste,
Cristina
Fortunately for me, alamarinara is also a Zen Buddhist practitioner and has shared with me her book by Dr. Wayne Dyer “There is A Spiritual Solution to Everything.”
