A lot of parents I come across worry a great deal about their ASD kids’ milestones.
Is he reading yet?
Is he talking yet?
Has he stopped stimming?
I often tell parents to stop and observe their kids from their hearts yet it seems to be a daunting tasks for most, as the pressure to conform to society is apparently greater on them
They want to defeat autism when autism is what their kids are all about. Why is it easier for people to resist and react rather than respond? I believe in a caring God but does He really want us to fight?
The brilliance of these kids are undervalued because most people only look at them from their unconventional behavior. Parents clamor for acceptance and tolerance. What I want to ask is that do we give OUR KIDS acceptance and tolerance? More so, do we give them unconditional love in spite of their neurodiversity.
Maybe this YouTube video of Wallace will best explain how brilliant and connected they really are. I leave it up to you folks to show your connection to your ASD kids.
